Juan Carlos Esparza Ochoa

Juan Carlos Esparza Ochoa is a data manager at the Pew Research Center’s Forum on Religion & Public Life. Prior to joining the Pew Research Center, Juan Carlos worked with Dr. Robert D. Woodberry at the Project on Religion and Economic Change at the University of Texas. He also was a professor of social research and religious studies at several universities in Mexico.

Juan Carlos received a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from the Universidad del Valle de Atemajac and in theology from the Colegio Maximo de Cristo Rey. He also has a master’s degree in social science from the Universidad de Guadalajara in Mexico and a Ph.D. in sociology from the University of Texas at Austin, where his dissertation examined the geographic distribution of Catholic pastoral services for the poor in Mexico.
