Like many religious traditions in an increasingly unchurched
America, the annual graduation rite of baccalaureate tends to draw
fewer participants each year in Rapid City and other Black Hills
communities.
Spearfish High School will graduate about 150 seniors on May
22, but only about 35 of them showed up at Our Savior’s Lutheran
Church for a community-wide 2011 baccalaureate service on May 15
that was organized and sponsored by the Spearfish Ministerial
Association.
