British Jedi Knight wins apology: says religious rights breached by demand to remove 'hoodie'

A man has received an apology from an unemployment centre in Britain after he claimed staff violated his religious freedoms by demanding he remove a hooded sweater.

His religion? He's a Jedi Knight.

"Jobcentre Plus is committed to provide a customer service which embraces diversity and respects a customer's religion or belief," the centre's manager, Wendy Flowers, wrote in a letter. "I would like to apologize that on this occasion you were asked to remove your hood, which you have stated is not acceptable as part of your religious belief."

The Jedi in question is Chris Jarvis, 31. The father of three was in the Jobcentre Plus when a staffer asked him to remove a blue "hoodie." Hooded sweatshirts are a hot-button issue in Britain, having become something of a uniform for violent youths.
