Europe is in danger of losing its soul, according to the Chief Rabbi who will today tell the Pope that leaders of all faiths must help to restore morality to the world of finance in order to regenerate the economy and society.

On a visit to Rome, Lord Sacks will also tell Benedict XVI that Jews and Christians must open a "new chapter" in their relationship and walk side-byside to fight the "aggressively secularising forces at work in Europe".
