As a Metro Council member, Southern Baptist Ron Nollner offered
invocations at council meetings and sponsored controversial resolutions
that, if successful, would have allowed the Ten Commandments to be
displayed in government buildings and prohibited Nashville restaurants
from pouring liquor before noon.
Thursday, Nollner, of Madison,
sued the Nashville-based Southern Baptist Convention, the nation’s
largest Protestant denomination, and related entities for $1.5 million
in Davidson County Circuit Court.
