ATLANTA -- Republican Herman Cain said Sunday that he opposes
abortion even after rape or incest or when a woman's life is at risk,
contradicting previous statements in which he favored exceptions.
The
stand that Cain staked out during an interview with CBS's "Face the
Nation" comes as he tries to clear up his position on an issue watched
closely by some social conservatives and evangelical voters, who are
among his strongest supporters.
