BEIRUT: While it’s only been a few weeks since the Greek Orthodox
Gathering reasserted its role ahead of discussions on a new electoral
law in Lebanon, the group appears to be creating divisions in the
Orthodox community rather than uniting its ranks.
Though members of the Gathering stress that its role is to achieve
better representation in state institutions for the country’s second
largest Christian community, others are accusing the Gathering of
seeking hidden political agendas at the expense of the community’s
unity.
