The largest Hindu temple of its kind in the nation is about a mile west on Lawrenceville Highway. A half-mile east is First Baptist Church of Lilburn, which resides in a 100,000-square-foot complex and hosts eight foreign-language congregations.

But between those two facilities, at the intersection of the highway and Hood Road, is a 2,000-square-foot house that contains a Shiite Muslim congregation of about 90 families.
