For all the words spoken
about Mitt Romney's Mormon faith over the past few days, the Republican
presidential candidate offered only six indirect lines of his own,
telling an audience of mostly Christian activists that "poisonous
language" doesn't advance the conservative cause.
Mr. Romney employed the
scalpel approach to safeguard the public image he has sought to build,
centering almost entirely on his credentials to turn the economy around.
