In both 2010 and 2008, Pew Research Center polls showed narrow majorities saying that churches and other houses of worship should keep out of political matters rather than express their views on social and political questions. An article on Saddleback Church pastor Rick Warren's efforts to bring evangelical Christians and Muslims together cites a 2007 Pew Forum survey report. The report found that while roughly half of white mainline Protestants (51%) and white Catholics (48%) express favorable views of Muslims, only about quarter of white evangelicals (24%) say the same. |
