Religious Freedom Day Jan. 16 is Religious Freedom Day in the U.S., commemorating the anniversary of the passage of Thomas Jefferson's Virginia Statute for Religious Freedom in 1786, which laid the foundation for the First Amendment's guarantee of religious freedom.
