Archbishop Charles Chaput

The Vatican appointed Denver Archbishop Charles Chaput as the new archbishop of Philadelphia following Cardinal Justin Rigali's resignation from the position on July 19, the Associated Press reported. In 2009, Archbishop Chaput spoke at a Pew Forum event that focused on Catholic civic engagement in American politics and how Catholic beliefs translate into the public square.
