OCT. 26 - RELIGION NEWS SERVICE Activists bemoan low priority given to religious freedom Religious freedom advocates, academics and government officials expressed concern about religious persecution around the globe at a recent event sponsored by the Family Research Council, Religion News Service reports. At the event, Georgetown University professor Thomas Farr cited a 2011 Pew Forum report that found that nearly 70% of the world's 6.9 billion people live in countries where governments imposed high restrictions on religion or where there were high levels of religious hostilities in society. |
