Laws Penalizing Blasphemy, Apostasy and Defamation of Religion are Widespread
 
On Nov. 20, a Pakistani court ordered blasphemy charges dropped against a Christian teenager who had been accused of burning pages from the Quran. An article on state battles over the legal status of same-sex marriage in the U.S. cites a July 2012 Pew Research Center report. The report found that 48% of Americans favor allowing gays and lesbians to marry legally, while 44% oppose this.
