Sub-Saharan Africa Religion Database

This interactive database allows users to explore public opinion in 19 sub-Saharan African nations on topics ranging from religious beliefs and practices to views on religious extremism and morality.

The findings come from more than 25,000 face-to-face interviews in more than 60 languages or dialects in 19 countries, representing 75% of the total population of sub-Saharan Africa. The data are among the results published in a report by the Pew Research Center's Forum on Religion & Public Life.

Religious Affiliation of Survey Respondents in Ghana

This pie chart shows the religious breakdown of the people surveyed in Ghana. See Appendix B for comparative estimates of the country's religious composition from some other studies and censuses.

Notes: In countries where there were too few interviews with either Muslims or Christians, that subpopulation was not analyzed. Results are not shown for the total population for questions asked only to Muslims and Christians. Figures may not add to 100 due to rounding.
